2024 Rear Commodore Candidate (1-Year Term)

Mark Schaffner

My name is Mark Schaffner, and I am running for the position of rear commodore. It has been my privilege and honor to serve on the board of directors of our club the last four years. I am proud of being a member of the board and watching the growth of the club during my involvement.

My wife Rachel and I have been members of the Devil’s Lake Yacht Club since 1998 and have always enjoyed coming here with our three children, family, and friends. We now have two sons who are also members, and our daughter works at the club as a hostess.  It has been amazing to see how the club has grown over the past 25 years. I enjoy spending summers at our cottage on Devils Lake and love finishing a summer night having dinner on the patio at DLYC.

In the past I have served on the board of Lenawee Farm Bureau, the Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee and Crossroads Community Church. I am also a member of many agricultural and marketing organizations and committees.

I grew up in Hudson, married my high school sweetheart and graduated from Central Michigan University. In the past I have worked for Shearson Lehman Hutton and Smith Barney as a commodity broker and agricultural marketing consultant. After this I was a member of a private consulting firm that deals in agricultural markets and commodity hedging. I am currently a self-employed local farmer and marketing consultant.

I have been a member of many clubs over the years but have not found one as unique and special as ours. With the success and growth that the club has shown, even in demanding times, I am looking forward to being a part of what the future will bring DLYC, and I am excited to be running for the position of Rear Commodore.

Troy Langenderfer

Mark_smallI am pleased to be running for a second term as a DLYC Board of Governors Member.

I am the proud husband to my wife of 27 years Stacy, as well as father to my two daughters Abigail (26), and Hanna (25).  My daughters represent the 4th generation of family members to be raised enjoying the South shore of Devils Lake.   During my time on the lake, the DLYC has always been the place where the community has come together to create memories and share laughter.  Many of the friendships I hold dear were forged here and remain strong to this day.

As a Toledo native and now Devils Lake resident, I attended St John’s Jesuit HS, University of Dayton and postgraduate at Lourdes University.  I am currently the Co-Owner of North Shore Pontoon Center as well as a member of the Devils and Round Lake Fireworks Committee.  My hope is to remain involved in the surrounding community to help make it as strong and lasting as possible for future generations to enjoy.  Hopefully the skillset I’ve developed over the years of my career, as well as my commitment to the community, will allow me to serve the DLYC families to the best of my ability.
